Our Cultural Food Bank

In Stockport, traditional food banks and delivery services often fall short for ethnically diverse communities. Unfamiliar ingredients and cooking methods left many unable to use what was provided, leading to hunger and even mental health struggles—because food is more than just sustenance, it’s a source of joy and connection.
In June 2020, we launched a unique food bank to meet this need, powered by volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Teaming up with FareShare, we delivered African, Caribbean, Asian, and Polish dishes, supporting over 2,500 people in our first year alone.
But we didn’t stop at food. We added practical workshops on budgeting, financial planning, and cooking British meals with a local chef. Plus, our sewing club emerged as a fun way to bring people together.
